Ballroom Attendance Policy Spring 2010
Due to the low attendance in the fall and the limited funds that the ballroom club has been allotted, this attendance policy will take effect Spring 2010 as a way to encourage attendance and use our funds for the people who are most active in the club.
- Each member is allowed three misses from practice during the semester
- More misses will result in the member having to pay his or her own way to future competitions. You are still welcome to join us for competitions, but we cannot spend out budget on members who are not participating fully.
- Attendance will affect partnering. Those with perfect attendance will get preference for partners.
- HOWEVER: any misses before the Valpo competition (Jan 30th) will result in the member having to pay from him or herself if he or she would still like to go. There are only 2 weeks of practice before Valpo.
- Serious circumstances can be excused by either Em or Gabi
- This policy extends to everyone – officers and men included – there will be no double-standards
All Dancers:
- Must help to plan the Notre Dame competition
- Must pay the $40 semester fee or the club will not pay for your entrance fees (which usually range around $35 per competition. Remember, the club also pays for lessons with professional instructors – you would be paying hundreds of dollars for the amount of instruction you are getting for forty dollars. It’s a deal :D )
Newcomers:
- Must attend Social club on Thursday 8:00-9:30
- Must attend Kathy’s Wednesday lesson 8:30-10:00
- Optional: Mario’s international lesson on Monday
- Lessons can be made up by attending Mario’s Bronze international lesson on Monday from 9:30-11
- TIME COMMITMENT: 3 HOURS PER WEEK
Returning Bronze Members
- Must attend either Kathy’s or Mario’s bronze lesson (but must consistently come to one or the other)
- Make up: attending the other bronze lesson
- Social club is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED in order to encourage newcomers to join competition team and to build community
- TIME COMMITMENT: 1.5 HOURS PER WEEK
Silver Dancers:
- Must attend ALL three hours of Mario’s lesson
- Make up: Kathy’s lesson
- Social club is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED in order to encourage newcomers to join competition team and to build community
- TIME COMMITMENT: 3 HOURS PER WEEK
Competitions this semester:
- Valpo – Jan 30
- Michigan – Feb 13 or 20 (TBA)
- Notre Dame – March 27
- Others - TBA
